    Sky Blue Stars remain top with four matches to go as title race heats up

    IBADAN, NIGERIA – Remo Stars continued their remarkable push for a historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title with a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars on matchday 34 at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Sunday.

    The hard-earned win solidifies their position at the top of the table with 65 points, taking them one step closer to their first-ever league crown.

    Historic Away Win for Remo Stars

    This match marked Remo Stars’ first-ever away win against Shooting Stars in 10 NPFL encounters, highlighting their growing strength and title credentials.

    The decisive moment came in the 31st minute when Alex Oyowah netted his third opening goal of the season, securing all three points for coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s men.

    The loss was a bitter pill for the Oluyole Warriors, who suffered their first home defeat of the season, leaving only Remo Stars and Enyimba with unbeaten home records this campaign.

    Race for the Title: Rivers United Keep Chase

    With four matches left, Remo Stars now hold a seven-point lead over second-placed Rivers United, who also picked up a win on Sunday. A late strike from Abba Suleiman in the 84th minute secured a 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars, taking Rivers United to 58 points.

    • Plateau United 1–0 Akwa United
      Vincent Temitope’s 23rd-minute goal sealed the win.
    • El-Kanemi Warriors 1–1 Ikorodu City
      Ikorodu City grabbed a valuable point away in Maiduguri.
    • Tornadoes 1–1 Bayelsa United
      Sunday Williams converted from the spot in the 38th minute.
    • Lobi Stars 2–4 Rangers International
      Williams Wonah and Godwin Obaje scored for the Flying Antelopes.
    • Katsina United 5–1 Abia Warriors
      A dominant display gave Katsina their biggest NPFL win since 2017.
      Abia Warriors, meanwhile, conceded five goals in a match for the fourth time in their NPFL history.
